In connection with All Souls' Day (Nov 1st, the day after Hallow'een) there is a custom among the Polish citizenry of New Britain to place candles at the gravesites of loved ones. The purpose of this is twofold: To affirm belief in the Christian doctrine of life after death, and to show that although loved ones may not walk the earth anymore, they are not forgotten.
